Black and Blue

Remember the “cramps” I got while I was at Anvaya Cove and still aching up now (they’re all on my Twitter), well I’d be damned, I was wrong.

Finally decided to go to the clinic when I couldn’t move my leg anymore because it was so darn stiff and painful and I really couldn’t stretch it. It was venous thrombosis all along; blood clot in the veins. That is why my thigh still hurts a week after and has a huge bruise on the area.

My doctor said that it might be too late to cure it but we all have high hopes for the prescriptions to work. He said that I should’ve come earlier. But he said that it seems to be the superficial type and unlikely to worsen (I hope). I really did thought that it was just a huge cramp episode, and that my muscle is still sore because of the severity until I discovered the bruising yesterday. And it could have gone worse if not treated.

I was given some prescriptions to help with the pain and the vein. And was asked to put cold compress on it, wrap in elastic bandage every 2 hours and elevate it as often as I could. The whole time, I was applying hot compresses on it; I was doing more damage. The first aid done while I was still on the beach was also wrong, and that according to my doctor  might have contributed to the state I am on right now. But who could have known that it wasn’t cramp?

So I was ordered to rest for a week starting today. Not to strain it too much so it wouldn’t pop out again. I’d already contacted work and they’re really supportive. And just when I’m having an awesome work streak. I had already secured a sickness notification form and hopefully (pretty please) it would be approved. My just-refreshed vacation leaves will suffer a major loss when it wouldn’t get approved.

So for now and the coming days, I’ll be here at home “elevating”.
