My Globe Broadband and P2P

Globe Broadband hates me when I’m using P2P. Don’t know how they did it but it is the case now. I read on a tech blog regarding the same issue. There were mentions of an ISP caps which “could” probably be applied. Almost the same time I read that, I started noticing that my connection drastically slowed down also.

I have my uTorrent on auto-launch since I bought this computer and there were no issues whatsoever with my connection. It was on the background leeching and seeding at the same time. But then pages started to load really really slow. Even the main Google site took 20 seconds to load on an “up to” 1MBPS connection. So I investigated on it. I disabled the auto-launch of my torrent client, closed it and boom, surfing was zippy again. The result was instant.

I wondered how the heck they did it. I even thought of maybe installing their remote app, Click Fix, would solve the problem. But I couldn’t even install the damn thing; it says that it cannot detect my modem which I previously selected on a list earlier on the program setup. Stupid app.

On a different note: I setup a Globe Tattoo on my neighbor’s house and the Tattoo app has a lot of grammatical errors. Someone forgot to check the alert dialogs. Fail.

Back to P2P, I also tried Limewire. Downloaded, installed and searched for some music. As soon as it was downloading the file, browsing became abysmal. By then I’m convinced.

I need to get the stuff I need somewhere else, but that’s already in the bag, sort of speak. I just can’t do torrent and surf anymore, I could still do them separately. ;)

So how’s your Globe Broadband connection lately?
