Out with the Old, In with the Quad Core
This is the early Christmas gift to myself (and my family) and the long overdue replacement of the slowest PC I know (upgrading was not an option).
In a nutshell, it has:
- Pentium Core 2 Quad processor on an Intel Motherboard
- 2 GB of Kingston RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT (1 GB)
- Seagate 500 GB SATA
- and a new Samsung combo drive with Lightscribe
… all enclosed on a mini black casing that is about 40% smaller than the old one. It may seem ridiculous but I need it for my next lark. Will tell more once I got it all planned.
I just finished installing all the essentials; a really good firewall, an antivirus and 3 spyware/malware scanners. I had to format it thrice to make the internet connection work. It seems that my line doesn’t like Windows XP SP3. I even tried DOTA (Warcraft) in it, set the video quality to the highest and it didn’t even hiccuped. Awesome.
Saying goodbye never felt this awesome. Goodbye Pentium 4 1.7Ghz, 256MB RAM with a measly 32MB video card. It was fun, slow, annoying when it rebooted randomly and mostly disappointing while it lasted.
I just had to name it. It would be tiring to refer it to the specs above or won’t do justice when referred to as the “new” PC so it’s Quaddie.
PS.
Here’s something that cracked me up but forgive me for the image quality, I haven’t installed any image editing app yet.
