MobEee: My Asus Eee PC
So if you haven’t figured it out (hello to all non-geeks out there), I just got myself a brand new spanking Asus Eee PC, MobEee. It’s this little thing I’d obsessed for far too long and dreamt of having since I found out about it late last year. There is a crapload of reviews about this baby (and probably I had read almost all of them) and finally I’ll be a part of the hype.

Almost as big as two DVD cases stacked, less than a kilo in weight but it does packs a punch! I was even surprised on how easy it is typing on the keyboard which almost everybody bitched about. It’s small but comfortable. Screen size does not bother me at all with its 7 inch of viewable space. It is a UMPC, ultra mobile personal computer. That’s read as “small” in my book, so to the idiots who complained about the screen size should just eat their Eee’s whole.
I’ve tested almost all of the things that came with MobEee except for the LAN port. Testing the wi-fi was the best part. It was really fast (thanks to my brother’s office’s wifi). Speakers are really small yet loud and the webcam is surprisingly good. Linux hasn’t acted up yet and so far I haven’t got any immediate and crucial reason to format MobEee and install Windows in it. Practically everything on Windows has a Linux counterpart; you just have to find them.
I have one itsy bitsy complain though, the shift button on the left side of the keyboard. I keep on hitting the up button instead. If I could find it again, I think there is a program or a hack that would switch the functionality of those two buttons.
I’m still geeking on it and it still has that new laptop smell. LOL Still thinking for what to get next. Whether a travel mouse, a Bluetooth dongle or a bigger SD card.
Of course, a lot happened these past few weeks but that is on another entry.

[...] First time I came to a mall (SM Megamall) before it opened and left on the last minutes before it closed. Anything for my MobEee. [...]

[...] The main reason for the platform change is for my phone’s PC Suite app. MobEee is about 3 times faster than our old desktop and it’s a better experience when surfing online via 3G on a faster unit. [...]
