Google’s Picasa Web Albums

I’ve been a loyal user of Picasa ever since I found out about it until now. I use it to organize, touch up and send photos thru email. And now comes Google’s answer to online photo albums that links with this application, Picasa Web Albums. With a capacity of 250 MB on the default free account (which can be upgraded with a fee), even kids will be able to upload pictures using the beta version of their popular photo desktop management software, Picasa. The Web Albums version is only available at the Picasa Web Album site for now, and not this one. Being on “test” mode, here’s my Picasa Web Album. The albums have that signature Google look, simple and straight forward, which I really like. I uploaded some of my niece’s pictures there; with the beta Picasa, it’s dead easy.

Here are some caps I made of some features and improvements they made on the new beta Picasa software:

Better organization of filesBetter grouping of files with folders dedicated for “starred” photos and also the screensaver folder where you just simply drag all the photos you want to appear on your Picasa screensaver.

Account status and shortcutShows the current Web Albums account status and a shortcut for the site.

Web Album buttonThe button that makes it all simple, “Web Album”.

Upload dialogUpload dialog. Captions set on Picasa will be the captions on the web album also.

Save changesAnd my favorite new feature of Picasa, “save changes”. But don’t worry, Picasa creates backups.

Future plans? I will not move my photos there, I’ll just find another use for my Picasa Web Albums.
