ONAT LOPERA

How come the smallest wounds are the ones that hurt a lot? I wrote about the crash on my previous post and I thought that was the end of it, but it wasn’t.

It happened about 9 in the morning and sometime in the afternoon, my foot started to get tingly, numb and really cold at the same time. I was in front of the computer then so I just ignored it but near 4PM, the sensation spread up to my knee and my foot started to swell. Walking became the hardest thing. No one but my grandmother was on the house yesterday when I told her what was happening. She was really getting worried and said that I might have Tetanus. My grandmother told me I should go to the doctor and have it checked but no one is around so I just said that it’s just a small wound, and the tingly numbness will go away the next day. But I was getting really worried also. Finally, at about 5, they arrived from the mall. Everybody was like “what’s happening to Konat (I haven’t told them to strip off the K)” and in a few minutes, yours truly with mom and aunt were on a tricycle ride to the hospital. After all the useless gossips and chit-chats of the staff of the hospital (that’s James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital), someone finally attended to us. A tetanus shot later, I was trying to walk wonky and fast (amidst the agonizing pain) to catch the jeepney. We rode the jeepney instead because the tricycle driver was trying to rob us with overcharging. I even bumped onto a classmate on the ride (Randy James). And this morning, I woke up. I’m afraid majority of the computer usage time will still be mine.

Like what my first first-cousin that I met said, “Poor Onat.” But everything is good now, just can’t walk straight.
