Samara: The Ring 2

The Ring 2Not giving too much writing space for the part when I said to a group of people on the cinema ?Hoy! Ano ba?! Nakaka-distract kayo!? with a pissed-off-who-had-enough tone The Ring 2 started like the first one, two teenagers but armed with something new (no spoilers here). They (Naomi Watts and David Dorfman) are back again to have some more of that little – girl – with – long – messy – hair – that – could – and – would (now Kelly Stables and not Daveigh Chase).

Without giving out spoilers for those who haven?t watched it yet (pretty much no one I suppose because that movie came very very very late on our local cinema and everyone got to watch it before myself), it was a good movie but not as good as the first one. Yes, the story is resumed and all the things falls on the right place but like as always, I expected a lot from it. After the first scene, I can really tell that the movie was not directed by some bloke that likes pirates alot, it was Hideo Nakata, the man himself from the Ringu series. This sequel is different. More on story, less scary scenes.

One thing I like really like on this movie is that the fright comes from what you see, not from what you hear. That bit really made a bump on my head because I really hate it when they use that loud shocking sound just to make the viewer scared. With Two, it was quite subtle yet still haunting and scary.

I wonder if the first draft for the sequel wasn?t rewritten and Daveigh Chase?s screentimes as Samara based from the first draft of the director that they let go of weren?t cut, will the movie be better?
